(A review of Tideland)One of the most disturbing and beautiful movies ever created. Gilliam is one of the only directors who could pull it off. Story follows young Jezlia-Rose, the imaginative young daughter of 2 junkies. It follows her imagined adventures as she explores the unknown world of an empty farmhouse and surrounding fields. Horrific events (including all sorts of gruesome death and despairing events) surround her, but is only seen as more fodder for her mind. All of this is seen through the wondrous and innocent eyes of a child. And therein lies the polarizing key of this movie. Although the events on the screen are horrible, the innocence of the child and her imagination frame an amazing viewpoint for it. Very poetic horror film. I hate horror films, but I loved this movie. Please watch it - for me. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
